Ok I know this is a dumb simple one, but I forgot how
you go about doing this...

I want to be able to send email from the command line,
but I want the system to use my ISP's mail server.

i.e., where do I tell the system that the SMTP server
to use for sending mail is mail.earthlink.net

Don't I just stick that in a file somehwere?

I want to do this on my box so it can mail me alerts &
notifcations from cronjobs.

If using sendmail it is the smart host part of the config.
The exact wording might be different I'm not near a Linux box at the moment.
But the line is commented so you should not miss it.
