I received the following error message when I attempted to install RH9 with the CD. However the following error message displays once the installer begins the installation process.

<0>Kernel Panic: Attempted to Kill init!

****END OF ERROR MESSAGE****

My hardware equipment includes the following...

Intel P4 2.4 Ghz (533Mhz FSB)
Soyo SY-P4X400 Dragon Ultra Platinum Edition Mainboard
512MB PC2700 DDR RAM
40 GB Seagate Barracude IDE HDD
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro Graphics Adapter
3COM 3C905B-TX 10/100 NIC
Onboard 10/100 NIC (Realtek)
Onboard Sound

As you can see, my hardware is very recent and I am lost about the error message. I can install WIN2K fine but I really want RH9. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Niko Ryu

It's either dodgy hardware or a dodgy CD. Did you try and pass the media tests before installation?

Regards,
ED.
