More verbosity with tar

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi all,
I've read the manual, but couldn't find anything. I keep getting "error exit
delayed from previous error" when tar-ing my web directory as user. When I
run the same command as root, it works fine. Is there anyway I can get more
verbosity with tar so that I can see what's really going on? I'm already
using

tar -czvf htdocs.tar.gz /usr/local/apache/htdocs

As I said, those run fine as root, but exit with error when run as my user.
The funny thing, and what makes it harder to debug, tar stop at the same
place (ie. after listing the same directory) when run as root or as user. The
only different is that when run as my user, I got the error message.

Any insights?

Any help is appreciated.

Thansks
