How to flush old IP from eth0 after IP alias?

Hello all,
   Thanks for any helps in advance.
   Recently, I was trying to change my server's IP from IPA to IPB, as I
afraid some DNS servers still
have the IPA in their cache. I created an IP alias for IPB in ifcfg-eth0:1,
so I have eth0 -> IPA and
eth0:1 -> IPB.
   Now when I want to permanently remove IPA from the server, I try to set
IPB in ifcfg-eth0 and
remove ifcfg-eth0:1, but whenever I restart /etc/init.d/network, I always
got IPA in eth0, instead of
IPB. I even used netconfig to configure and restart the network, also the
same. I tried to reboot the
server as well, even let it power off for a while, I get the same result.
   I wonder which part I have missed out here?
   Thanks.

Regards,
Simon.
