Ok,

Currently I am running rh 9.0 with kernel version 2.4.20-24.9

I downloaded the linux-2.6.0.tar.gz from kernel.org , un tarred it to /usr/src so I have /usr/src/linux-2.6.0 cd to that directory ran make xconfig, then make && make modules && make modules_install && make install. Verified that /boot/grub/grub.conf was setup right then rebooted. Every thing came up fine until the root filesystem was loaded.

Mount error 16 ext 3

Kernel panic no initd …..

Has anyone had any success in upgrading to the new 2.6 kernel? If so how did you go about doing that?

Thanks

Dan
