kswapd temporarily runs away w/CPU time

I have a system that gets "busy" at the same time of day every day
(mornings between 8:30 and 10:00 approximately).  "top" seems to 
indicate
that the process "kswapd" is running away with the CPU time during this
interval.  Can anyone suggest where I might start looking for info on
why this is happening, and/or offer suggestions for a fix?
