Is windows XP? Do you use cups?
I didn't succeed in connecting to a winXP from linux using LPRng. So now I use cups and can connect. But I think you must add a guest user to both samba and linux with the same passwd. If you have a win98 maschine you must also here add a guest account. In printconf-gui you type guest:guest@/ for the username and guest for the passwd as you also used in your guest account in samba and linux.
You can try this and see how it goes.
