Tar -> RPM

Is there anyway to take a tar file containing binary files & convert it into
an RPM package? I know you can do it with tar files containing source
files, but I haven't heard or seen anything about binary tar files.

What I want to do is try out Dropline Gnome (http://www.dropline.net/gnome)
It's mainly for Slackware, and uses tar for package management. I'd like to
install the tars, but would prefer them to be in rpm format so that I don't
totally FUBAR my Redhat install (well, preferably) ;)
