What's your kernel version? You must restart the machine if you have an older kernel version. With the latest versions you can try: echo "scsi scan-new-devices" > /proc/scsi/scsi for force the system to scan the scsi bus. The new disk should be sdd. Did you try: #fdisk /dev/sdd to partition it? If so, what output did you get?
