Hi list,Hey HaJo,
FYI, I just downloaded & installed above through Up2Date on a more-or-less stock RH9 installation. After that, GNOME login wasn't possible (the X-Server still came up but after logging in, I immediately got logged out again). I suspect gdm not to load. My ~/.xsession-errors said:
GThread-ERROR **: file gthread-posix.c: line 135 (): error 'No such process' during 'pthread_getschedparam (pthread_self(), &policy, &sched)' aborting...
Further, rpm was not able to access its data base any longer, seems that the new glibc also broke something in db. Fortunately mc can extract individual files from rpm's -- that way one can at least revert to the stock RH9 glibc.
Maybe someone should have a closer look into this, I guess I might not be the only one having this problem ;)
Later, HaJo
I just downloaded the and installed the update to glibc and I am not having any problems. I'm running a stock RH9 with all the latetest updates and had no troubles loading KDE or GNOME. Actually I am writing this in a GNOME session. I just did a Google on your error message and did find that someone had a similar error. It looks like his problem was with a custom kernel he was trying to run, his was in Taroon though. Maybe this might be someplace to start.
HTH.
