I usually make the following change in /etc/inittab on all my
machines:

Replace:

ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t3 -r now

with

ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -t3 -h now


That way, you can use Ctrl-Alt-Delete to shut the machine down (which
I do much more often than rebooting, hence the change).
