Hi, I haven't used a dial modem for a while so I may be way off here but you are starting a ppp session on a serial link, then calling hotplug, which I expect would be looking for a usb or pcmcia type of device. Since the modem already initialized it was either there at boot time or you set it up with setserial. Could the hotplug call be a problem?
