EHCI-HCD - USB 2.0 driver fails to load during boot

We have an Acer Desknote 1700 which fails to load the EHCI driver.

[root@....]# /sbin/insmod ehci-hcd
Using /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/drivers/usb/hcd/ehci-hcd.o
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/drivers/usb/hcd/ehci-hcd.o: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

A quick perusal of /var/log/messages shows

Nov 4 20:59:30 dhcp243 kernel: SiS router pirq escape (99)
Nov 4 20:59:30 dhcp243 kernel: SiS router pirq escape (99)
Nov 4 20:59:30 dhcp243 kernel: PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin D of
device
00:03.3. Please try using pci=biosirq.
Nov 4 20:59:30 dhcp243 kernel: hcd.c: Found HC with no IRQ. Check
BIOS/PCI 00:03.3 setup!

Rebooting with pci-biosirq in /etc/grub.conf did not help.

The IRQ of the USB 1.0 devices is 10 but INSMOD wont' accept irq=10 as
one of the parameters.

The output of 'lspci -v' shows

00:03.3 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS7002 USB 2.0
(prog-if 20 [EHCI])
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI]: Unknown device 0028
        Flags: medium devsel
        Memory at e4004000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks - Damian
