Redhat 9 does support hyperthreading and some of the advanced scheduling features that the 2.6 kernel has. The biggest improvement that you'll see is by the nptl (new posix thread library) that is included and the O(1) scheduler that was back ported to the Redhat kernel from 2.6. For a good rundown... Extract the kernel-2.4.20-20.9.src.rpm and you'll see all the patches that are applied to the 2.4.20 stock kernel. If you want those features be sure to use the Redhat kernel and NOT a stock 2.4. --Rob -----Original Message----- From: redhat-list-admin@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-admin@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ed Wilts Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 3:25 PM To: redhat-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: RedHat 9 and Hyperthreading CPU's On Tue, Nov 04, 2003 at 09:51:11AM +1100, Skeeve Stevens wrote: > > Does RedHat 9 support or use the features of Hyperthreading? It does schedule threads on all 4 cpus, and with a 2.6 kernel, it will optimize those threads. -- Ed Wilts, Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:ewilts@xxxxxxxxxx Member #1, Red Hat Community Ambassador Program -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:redhat-list-request@xxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
