i just bought a DVD/CD-RW combo, i can use it as a DVD player but when i try to use it as a CD-RW, it can't detect the cd burner.
how would i do this ?
usually i do a cdrecord --scanbus to see what dev it is
any help would be cool.

at startup enter kernel parameter : hdc=ide-scsi (it can be also hdd, depends hom much ide devices you have)
or in grub.conf for permanent.
