what does idebus= stands for

hello 
My system boot log shows the following entry
ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx

I am using RH Linux 9.0 on a P-IV@xxxxxx with 256 MB RAM and 40GB harddisk
also one P1@120Mhz using RH Linux7.1
I tried looking through the documentation to find out but looks like I am not 
able to find out.
Can anybody, please, tell me what does this mean.
