If you purchase an AMD processor, you'll have money left over to donate to open source projects. Seriously, I have 2 laptops (Sony and Compaq). The compaq has an AMD, the Sony an intel... Both work great. The only thing I don't like is no support for the TV-OUT on ATI Chips.
