Check out logrotate.  The default config (/etc/logrotate.conf) rotates
weekly.  You can change that to daily and instruct it to save only 7
days' worth of files.  Read the manpage and browse the logrotate.conf
and example files in /etc/logrotate.d/ for ideas.
