Hi,

What are the implications of changeing the LANG variable in RH9?

Will it mess anything up?

it was sugessted here
http://www.sng.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mailscanner/serve/cache/121.html

that I change it to
LANG="POSIX"

Anyone know if for any reason this might be a bad idea?

here is my current /etc/sysconfig/i18n file:

LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
SUPPORTED="en_US.UTF-8:en_US:en"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

Thanks

I've changed mine to read:

LANG="en_US"
SUPPORTED="en_US:en_US:en"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

and it has improved performance, especially in grep.

Ben

Thanks Ben,

If I do that, do I need to do somthing drastic like reboot or init to take affect everywere?
