Hello,

I configured samba-2.2.5-10 on RH8 for file sharing.
Access from win2k and winXP is smooth and with no
problem.

Access from win98 gives the following error:

Error 53: The computer name specified in the network
path cannot bee located. Make sure you are specifying
the computer name correctly or try again later when
the remote computer is available.

Prior version of samba, on RH7.1 is accessible from
win98 with no problem.

Please advise.

Nathalie

i dont have to work with win98 anymore fortunately, so i might be wrong. But i think with win98 you have to check in the smb config file if you are encrypting the login or not. I dont remember the exact setting or if it would give you the error you are getting. But if the prior version of samba worked, you might want to look in the config file and see if you can spot the setting i am talking about.
