Promise gave me the same run around when I called them for help. The problem is that the controller's BIOS loads into memory, but the driver doesn't automatically find that BIOS in memory. The result is that each drive in the array is treated by the OS as a separate drive and not a member of an array.
I tried everything that Promise told me to do, and a number of things they didn't, but the result was always the same. I pulled the card and use mirrordir to do a daily backup from drive to drive.

I just installed a Promise Technology TX2000 RAID controller. Promise
Technology referred me to the Linux community to help me find my array.
Any takers?
