Hi, I had a power failure during a RAID5 reshape. I added two drives to an existing RAID5 of three drives. After the machine came back up (on a rescue disk) I thought I'd simply have to go through the process again. So I use add add the new disk again. Although that worked, I am now unable to resume the growing process. # nas:~# mdadm -Q --detail /dev/md0 # /dev/md0: # Version : 00.91.03 # Creation Time : Sat Sep 15 21:11:41 2007 # Raid Level : raid5 # Device Size : 488308672 (465.69 GiB 500.03 GB) # Raid Devices : 5 # Total Devices : 5 # Preferred Minor : 0 # Persistence : Superblock is persistent # # Update Time : Mon Oct 8 23:59:27 2007 # State : active, degraded, Not Started # Active Devices : 3 # Working Devices : 5 # Failed Devices : 0 # Spare Devices : 2 # # Layout : left-symmetric # Chunk Size : 16K # # Delta Devices : 2, (3->5) # # UUID : 25da80a6:d56eb9d6:0d7656f3:2f233380 # Events : 0.470134 # # Number Major Minor RaidDevice State # 0 8 0 0 active sync /dev/sda # 1 8 16 1 active sync /dev/sdb # 2 8 32 2 active sync /dev/sdc # 3 0 0 3 removed # 4 0 0 4 removed # # 5 8 48 - I also adjusted /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf to match the new setup but still: # mdadm -A /dev/md0 /dev/sd[a-e] mdadm: /dev/md0 assembled from 3 drives and 2 spares - not enough to start the array. How can I tell mdadm that the devices /dev/sdd & /dev/sde are not spares but active? The information on the disks seems ok so I don't know where mdadm gets the idea that these should spare drives? :( -- This message was sent on behalf of nagilum@xxxxxxxxxxx at openSubscriber.com http://www.opensubscriber.com/messages/linux-raid@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/topic.html - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-raid" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
