reboot hanging at partition check using raid1 .

Hello All , In an attempt to verify that the system would
continue to function with only one drive in a 2 drive raid1
I removed a drive while the system was up . The system had no
problem continuing to function . I shutdown and powered off in
order to re-insert the drive (no need tempting fate another time) .

Though on reboot the kernel would hang just after printing out:
'CPU0: Intel Pentium III (Coppermine) stepping 0a'
and some odd CPU0 ... values on the next line .
This is an SMP board , but no second cpu & the kernel is not smp .

So I booted into a standalone CD with some tools , ie: mdadm .
I then manually hotadded the missing partition back into the array
and made sure it had completed the rebuild for both md's . I even
	fsck'd the md's which were flawless .

Now when I boot the kernel it hangs -hard- at:

	Partition check:
	sda:

There is no keyboard response on the screen for even sysrq .
If I then again boot into the standalone CD I find that the
array's need to resync . But we have never gotten anywhere
near re-mounting the md's or even checking them afaics .
	Help .

(please see email 'subject: linux-raid fatal: duplicate geometry'
	for hard details)
