I have been using LVM on top of RAID 5 without any RAID related issues.  You
do want to use a current version of the LVM, as very old LVM versions may
not deal with md devices correctly.  The basic reason to use LVM on top of
md is so that md can do the things it does well (striping/redundancy) and
LVM can do the things it does well (volume resizing, for one).

Both LVM and md are block remappers, so neither cares overmuch about what is
above or below it.  If you plan on using LVM's snapshot capability with
Reiser, you will want to use the VFS lock patch.
