pulseaudio / Alsa problem

I asked this question on the Alsa ug but it seems dead.
To me it looks like an alsa problem, but I ask here hoping someone would know what is going on.

Pulseaudio/Alsa used to work flawlessly with my 1818VSL, but it recently started to act up.

In order for me to get the sound going I have to issue pulseaudio from cli, and then wait about half an hour, where pulseaudio/alsa goes through several clicks and pops through the 1818vsl to get it going, rep-eating the same error I quote below.

Eventually the discrepancy is resolved between alsa/pulseaudio and the system works great then with 1818vsl as the soundcard.

As mentioned running pulseaudio from cli, I then get the following recurri9ng error scrolling with clicks and pops for half an hour after pulseaudio miraculously find the 18888vsl through alsa. I cannot get info online or any means to resolve the Failed to load module "module-alsa-card" problem.

*
E: [pulseaudio] module.c: Failed to load module "module-alsa-card" (argument: "device_id="4" name="usb-PreSonus_AudioBox_1818_VSL_2209-00" card_name="alsa_card.usb-PreSonus_AudioBox_1818_VSL_2209-00" namereg_fail=false tsched=yes fixed_latency_range=no ignore_dB=no deferred_volume=yes use_ucm=yes card_properties="module-udev-detect.discovered=1""): initialization failed.

Amyone has a suggestion or know whats going on ?
