I run various flavors of linux, with release &/or 'stable' kernels. In all cases, it's KDE w/ pulseaudio. E.g., on my desktop machine, rpm -qa | grep -i pulse | sort alsa-plugins-pulse-1.1.6-122.1.x86_64 libpulse0-11.1-14.1.x86_64 libpulse0-32bit-9.0-8.1.x86_64 libpulse-devel-11.1-14.1.x86_64 libpulse-mainloop-glib0-11.1-14.1.x86_64 libxine2-pulse-1.2.9-133.3.x86_64 mpg123-pulse-1.25.10-28.2.x86_64 pulseaudio-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-bash-completion-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-lang-11.1-14.1.noarch pulseaudio-module-gconf-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-module-jack-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-module-lirc-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-module-x11-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-system-wide-11.1-14.1.x86_64 pulseaudio-utils-11.1-14.1.x86_64 I've got Logitech webcams attached -- with both video & audio. I can record audio via the mic in, e.g. Audacity, with no problems. BUT ... when in Google Hangouts videocon, video works perfectly, but the audio simply does not function. Otoh, If I attach a _separate_ mic via USB, it works fine -- Hangouts uses video from the Logitech + audio from the separate mic. 'Something(TM)' about this integrated cam+mic, &/or my config, is clearly a problem for Hangouts. I don't know yet where to start looking to troubleshoot this. Any guidance as to where the problem might originate? Or even where to begin to look? Hal
