Hi all, It's been three months since the last release, which means that it's time to freeze the master branch in preparation for the next release. Only release blocker bug fixes and translation updates should be pushed to master. Other patches should go to the "next" branch. If you think something else should be pushed to master, you can try to write up a convincing argument for that (I'll attempt that myself for a module- default-device-restore patch that I have not yet written), but we tend to be rather strict about the freeze. The first draft of the release notes is already ready: https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/11.0/ If you have anything to add/remove/change regarding the release notes, please reply to this mail or edit the wiki yourself. I'll take a break from reviewing patches until the release blockers are resolved (help with the blockers would be appreciated). The release blocker bugs are tracked here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99067 Here's a review of the current blockers: frequent crash in pa_alsa_path_set_volume https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65520 Needs investigation, might be difficult to fix. PA crash on Assertion 'pa_atomic_load(&b->pool->stat.n_imported) > 0 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95352 I have a bunch of patches for this, but more are needed. This was already postponed during the previous release cycle, and I'm afraid that will happen again. I'll try to make at least some progress. PulseAudio startup fails with Assertion '!i->thread_info.attached' failed at pulsecore/sink-input.c:2304, function pa_sink_input_attach(). Aborting. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100065 This is a reproducible crash, so shouldn't be too hard to fix. Pulseaudio crashes when changing output https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100277 Needs more investigation. Looks like this might be reproducible by trying to mimic the reporter's setup, but I haven't tried yet. Intel HDMI LPE driver doesn't work well with PulseAudio https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100488 I made an offer on alsa-devel to fix this... This is a blocker, because my impression is that this new driver will be widely used soon, and it works very badly with PulseAudio. -- Tanu https://www.patreon.com/tanuk
