It  is a design limitation of pulseaudio, as the developer want to limit
the type of item in capture source exclude stereo mix,....,

it won't use snd_mixer_selem_get_enum_item() to get the current selected
enumerated item for the given mixer simple element

This mean that the capture source is alway unknown , it depend on
application UI pick up arbitrary item in the list as the active port
