Failed to drain stream: Timeout

I am getting following error when i try to to paplay

# paplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Failed to drain stream: Timeout

Here PA is connected to alsa-driver for playback of sound.
I am not sure about the problem here any pointers would be helpful.
