We already discussed this in IRC, but for the mailing list readers'
information, I'll repeat what I said: I'm not sure if the "configurable
maximum volume for sinks and sources" project will be available this
year, because there are already some patches (waiting for review)
implementing a substantial part of the functionality. We haven't really
started the preparations for this year's GSoC - I'll write a mail about
that shortly.

I suggested bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57743 as an
alternative project, and you seemed somewhat interested. I'll start a
separate thread about that to make sure that everyone agrees about the
approach.
