Mono Upmixing Only

Ah okay, thanks - I'll have a play. I appreciate the effort :-)

I wonder if we might see more things related to 5.1 setups as we see PA
being used with Steam boxes plugged into home theatre kit?

My feeling is that 'no, except sometimes yes' might have been better
default behaviour in this case as mono is a bit of an exception but I can
also see the opposite.

Is there an option to map mono to a centre channel - or is this rather
complex?
