How do you start pulseaudio? Also, pacmd uses a different mechanism for connecting to pulseaudio than all other programs, so I think it would be more useful to get the error messages from a "normal" program, e.g. pactl. You could paste the output of this command: PULSE_LOG=99 pactl info -- Tanu
