M-Audio Delta 44: simultaneous input and output

Okay, I have an M-Audio Delta 44 soundcard. The problem is this: simply
running Alsa, I can't hear the stuff I have running into one of the card's
inputs at the same time as I'm listening to something generated by the
computer. Say, for instance, I have a guitar plugged into it and am also
playing an audio track with Audacity. The only way I can hear the guitar is to
go into either Kmix or Envy24control and change one of the output channels
from PCM out to h/w0. Then I can hear the guitar, but can only hear one
channel of the audio output! This is not a workable solution. Someone
suggested installing Pulseaudio to manage the audio stream. I've done that,
and have pulseaudio playing nice with my system, but I don't know how to
use it to get what I'm looking for. Can anyone help?
