Not sure about ekiga, but the correct approach is that the VoIP app doesn't even know (or care, for that matter), which device is used. That's routing - pulseaudio's territory. It will automagically move streams to the devices that make most sense, or those that were most recently selected manually (via gnome-volume-control, for example, but the app's config screen could do the same) for a given application. So the only missing piece, as far as pulseaudio is concerned, is automagical profile switching. -- Micha?
