I do understand Arun's concern tho'. Ad-hoc API and structure changes will turn us into alsa-lib after a while! I don't think I share this concern for this particular series tho', so I agree that and change like Arun suggests is something that should be done after, if/when Arun reckons it's worth it and there is consensus.
