I am completely ignorant about audio stacks, so I don't know if mic boost belongs in Alsa or PA. However as far as I know the only audio GUI that comes in the default installation for some distros is PulseAudio's. So from a usability point of view it would be nice to have a tick box for mic boost there. Such a tick box is for example available in Windows. So I am happy that I found how to solve my problem with the help of the forum, but other people are probably not so lucky! ----- Original Message ---- From: Colin Guthrie <gmane@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: pulseaudio-discuss at mail.0pointer.de Sent: Wed, 5 May, 2010 8:29:39 Subject: Re: permanent microphone boost 'Twas brillig, and Piscium at 04/05/10 22:25 did gyre and gimble: > I spent a bit of time on this issue, the ephemeral mic boost. I think I gave a detailed analysis in my last mail no? The problem is that the option is not exposed through the PA layer to the port selector. Quite why that is I don't know but the solution is to get that fixed. Hopefully, someone familiar with that bit of code can comment soon.
