Not true. Firstly, what we don't support is simultaneous playback on the same device by multiple different users, unless you reconfigure things. Which is the same as for traditional alsa dmix. Secondly, the system wide mode is not deprecated. It's just not recommended for use for multi-user systems. It's fine on headless devices, or on thin clients, where no local user exists.
