IIRC volume ramping was implemented recently with some changes from IIRC Intel. I believe it's only used internally (e.g. from a module context) and I'm not sure if it's ever been intended to export it or not. I can't think off hand if there would be a problem exporting it, but there may be conditions that I've not thought off.
