Sorry for the long wait sladivadi, I was trying to wait until some
problems cleared up with never ending buffering issues - sadly they are
still there to deal with on certain configurations.

Anywho, for the most part http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/SystemEqualizer is
a good place to start.  The ubuntu packages are horribly out of date but
the opensuse one's are recent - I'm running them right now :-).  If you
can make it through the wiki the equalizer will probably work for you.
