Ubuntu's latest: Karmic.

2.28.0 would be the latest I'd imagine.  Must be in how they build it.

Looking at the debdiff they do list libcanberra-gtk-dev as a build
dependency.  apt-cache depends says it's dependent on libcanberra-gtk0.

I couldn't imagine why it's not being used then.
