The thing with D-Bus is that it is not network transparent. While I do like D-Bus a lot it is thus not really suitable for the PA case. The native PA APIs are all network transparent, and thus D-Bus is not really a suitable replacement I would say. And carrying two IPC APIs around all the time doesn't strike me as a particularly good idea. Sometime in the far far future I will replace the PA native protocol by something based on D-Bus-via-TCP together with RTP for the audio data transfer. But that's something for the future.
