If it does > work better, then again you probably can do something, but I > don't know what ;) I've noticed that gnome's panel volume control attributes a lot of weird behavior to controlling the volume of USB devices, like lock-ups, out of sync levels, etc... After I removed it from the panel I was able to control the volume using the buttons on my usb headset again. V.
