I know why the orignal patch wasn't merged. It worked fine normal
mplayer, but gmplayer would hang when using this patch. Thats is why
it was removed again from gentoo(after I actually pushed some of the
gentoo people for inclusion)but it seems mplayer upstream have it in
svn and in 1.0RC2
