There is no DRM or encryption involved with the hardware or drivers.  
I have a similar setup working with esound, but the lack of buffering  
makes listening to music difficult. As far as I understand it, if I  
can somehow get the audio to pulseaudio I can buffer the playback to  
reduce jitter.
