No doubt, don't get me wrong, I totally agree. I'm just saying I don't
know how long it takes to have it implemented and I suppose that a user
with the blue touchpad icon on the F1 key expects it to be working (more
than owners of older models where there is no "hw" shortcut but only a
software control), so I was just asking what to do in the meantime. Of
course one possible way is to use acpid, not a good one though. So, we
can change the hw state inside the driver when the combo is recognized
and eventually move to a better solution later on. Or no support at all
until we have that standard interface. The decision, of course, is up to
you, I'm just posing the existence of this issue.
