Why is there "pjmedia_port_put_frame()" in pjmedia Main flow ?

Hi, when reading pjmedia Main flow (playback callback) here
http://trac.pjsip.org/repos/wiki/media-flow

In the main flow (playback callback), when the Sound device needs another
frame to be played by the speaker, it will call play_cb(). Then the
conference bridge will call pjmedia_port_get_frame() .

After the bridge finishes processing all of these, it will then return the
mixed signal for slot zero back to the original pjmedia_port_get_frame() call,
which then will be processed by the sound device.

Why is there "pjmedia_port_put_frame()" here ?? I think it is for the
recording callback flow ?

And what is the conference bridge ?
