Hello, I solved the sound problems on my ubuntu x64 machine: You "need" the following packages (sudo apt-get install xyz): -binutils -binutils-dev -libasound2 -libasound2-dev *-*libasound2-plugins -alsa-utils -pulseaudio -libportaudio2 -portaudio19-dev Maybe I do not need all of them, but with those packages I could not only get my devices listed but also run them. Only some times there are weired problems with opening wav files - but this could have some other reasons as well. I hopy I could help you solving your problem.
