PJMEDIA_EAUD_NODEFDEV on call, but default audio device is fine

Hello list,

Upon failing to detect audio playback at the UAS end in a SIP call, I tried testing the audio device at the UAS using the sample application playfile.

And I get the following error:

19:35:05.549 os_core_unix.c  pjlib 1.6-trunk for POSIX initialized
 19:35:05.554       pa_dev.c  PortAudio sound library initialized, status=0
 19:35:05.554       pa_dev.c  PortAudio host api count=1
 19:35:05.554       pa_dev.c  Sound device count=0
 19:35:05.555          pjlib  select() I/O Queue created (0x8628384)
 19:35:05.556   wav_player.c  File player '/home/user1/pjproject/tests/pjsua/wavs/tock8.wav' created: samp.rate=8000, ch=1, bufsize=4KB, filesize=16KB
 19:35:05.556 playfile.c Unable to open sound device: Unable to find default audio device (PJMEDIA_EAUD_NODEFDEV) [code=420006]

I tried debugging what happens during the SIP call by inserting a breakpoint in the callback onCallMediaState() using gdb. And here is the error that I get:

18:40:53.906 pjsua_media.c Error retrieving default audio device parameters: Unable to find default audio device (PJMEDIA_EAUD_NODEFDEV) [status=420006]
 18:40:53.906 pjsua_media.c Error opening sound device: Unable to find default audio device (PJMEDIA_EAUD_NODEFDEV) [status=420006]
485       pjsua_conf_connect(0, ci.conf_slot);

I have fedora core 12 installed at the UAS and I am able to play back custom sounds from the desktop.

I would really appreciate some tips to resolve this issue.

TIA
Vin
