Hi Rob,

Thanks for your reply.

We changed it as the way you told following is the new code

$sString   = new SearchStringField;
$sString->operator    = 'contains';
$sString->searchValue = 'joe';

$csb        = new CustomerSearchBasic;
$csb->firstName = $sString;
$cs        = new CustomerSearch;
$cs->basic = $csb;

$searchObj = new SearchRequest;
$searchObj->searchRecord  = $csb;
$searchRes = $ns->search($searchObj);

But the result is same.Any idea??????
