recompiling cURL with SSL support?

trying to use pear's soap to make a https call on a solaris box, and I'm 
getting the Soap_Fault:

SOAP Fault received, fault(HTTP):
curl_exec error 1 libcurl was built with SSL disabled, https: not supported!

Now, my question is, when recompiling cURL, do I need to recompile PHP 
into apache again, or can I just re-install cURL and off I go?
